
What is backmitra?
Backmitra is a wonderful tool that provides support and help to loosen up stiff shoulders, chest, thoracic spine and lower back. This is something we all benefit from in everyday life!

It is used simply by lying on it and making slow movements with the arms. Through mindfulness, deep breathing and calm movements, we come into contact with the part of the nervous system (parasympathetic) which causes the body to restore itself, and which makes us calm, happy, satisfied - even if everything in our life is not totally perfect.
We use backmitra to release muscles that we have tensed so much that we have lost contact with them. The muscles that we are unable to turn off even though they scream for relaxation. It helps us get to the core, reconnect with our power center and turn “the ship” in the right direction. From the heart!

By giving space and attention to all the layers in ourselves - even those that we would rather not know or listen too much to because they are somehow uncomfortable - our shadow side - we learn to accept.
Then the rush in the head lets up a little, and we may start to hear subtle messages from the body and heart on a deeper level.
When the space around the heart and heart itself is given enough attention, the vibration and frequency in us increases. Life force can bubble up from the depths and we generally feel better about ourselves. Both physically, mentally and emotionally. We get ENERGY. It is a method for self-healing!

I give workshops with backmitra all around the globe, and I will eventually set up a teacher training in this so that those who are yoga teachers and body therapists can make use of this amazing tool for teaching and helping patients/clients..
